Latest News See the latest news from Friends of the Lake District on the recent submission for planning here 5 years ago NoGo Gondola As your aware a representative of NoGo Gondola made a statement to the Park Strategy & Vision Committee on Monday 11th March. The attached letter is the response from the Committee Chairman. Point 1 refers to our belief that; “The LDNPA should withdraw from the Whinlatter Development Company. Failing to do so will cast doubt on the integrity of the desired Master planning process – and the National Park Authority itself” In response they’ve made it clear they’re not going to; “I can assure the NoGo Gondola Group that the LDNPA has strong internal governance arrangements which means that developmental ideas are dealt with separately from our planning responsibilities.” By “Strong Internal Governance” they’re implying that because the LDNPA is a partner within the WDC, no member of the Planning Department will ever or has ever discussed the concept/proposal for a Gondola, or any other development at Whinlatter with any employee outside of the Planning Department, including the CEO. Is that realistic, or a clear conflict of interest within the LDNPA? We will be making another statement to the full LDNPA meeting on Wednesday 20th March at 10:00. ...
